Automatic Identification System

Automatic Identification System – AN/URN-31(V)1

The basic node, unit level configuration consists of an L-3 Protec AIS transponder to pick up merchant ship AIS transmissions; a serial connection to a Notebook PC to display AIS data on the ship’s bridge for Safety of Navigation; and a NIPRNet connection for forwarding the unclassified AIS data collected on ship to shore site where unclassified data will be published to the MDA DS COI and shared with other users. This variant is specific to surface ships.

Automatic Identification System – AN/URN-31(V)2
